Pictured above, Ferruccio Soleri as Arlecchino in Piccolo Teatro di Milano's landmark production of Carlo Goldoni's (25 February 1707 – 6 February 1793) Arlecchino, Servant of Two Masters (Servitore di Due Padroni).
Goldoni first wrote the play in 1745, and it was first performed in 1747. He revised it in 1753, which is the version that survives in many adaptations today. Giorgio Strehler (August 14, 1921 - December 25, 1997) directed the piece in 1947, bringing international fame to Piccolo Teatro.
The production, still playing occasionally in Milan (on the schedule for December 2007) and touring internationally (Last in USA in 2005) is now under the guidance of Ferruccio Soleri. There is much more to see from Soleri in the posts to come.
